This course has been designed to provide candidates with no prior electrical experience or knowledge with the competencies necessary to operate as a electrician's mate under supervision and therefore provides the first step to becoming a Registered Electrician after fully meeting the progression route described below. The Level 2 City & Guilds Electrotechnical Craft Diploma in Electrical Installations is designed to support those that want to get started within the industry but don't currently have a job within the trade and can't ( or don't wish) to follow the apprenticeship route in an FE funded College environment. We continue to support adult learners in Bristol on both 'Day' 09.00 - 16.00 options, both Tuesday's or Saturday's along with a two evenings per week option (18.00 - 21.00) thus supporting learners who need to study around work and family commitments.Course description
This foundation and gateway City & Guilds qualification is well respected as an excellent starting point for anyone new to the industry wishing to pursue a career in Electrical Installation and ultimately become a registered Electrician with the Joint Industry Board after further study and experience defined below. This course blends the theory with lab works and all the practical aspects within our fully functional workshop and inspection/Test bays.Assessment
The formal Units studied:-201 - Health & Safety in Building Services Engineering
202 - Principles of Electrical Science
203 - Electrical Installation Technology
204 - Installation of Wiring Systems & Enclosures
210 - Understand how to communicate with others within Building Services Engineering
Materials Required
Comprehensive learning materials will be provided along with electrical test equipment and instruments etc.
Tools & Materials for practical tasks.
All candidates will be provided with their own copies to keep of the following IET publications (£277.00 value added).
Entry Requirements
City & Guilds does not set any formal entry requirements for this course. However due to the mode of attendance and fast track nature of the programme, it's essential that all candidates are fully motivated and engaged for the journey and committed.Progression
To become qualified you will need to gain employment within the industry (three years experience post successful completion of this course and be able to demonstrate your ability at level3 within the skills scan) to meet the entry criteria for the new City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker Qualification (2347) + AM2E Assessment.DOMESTIC ELECTRICIAN EXPERIENCED WORKER SKILLS SCAN ASSESSMENT
Or for those who wish to proceed with training to meet the industry criteria for a Joint Industry Board 'Gold' Card as Electrician, further study will be required :-
