Who is this course for?

GUIDED LEARNING HOURS RECOMMENDED BY CITY & GUILDS = 50 HOURS / TOTAL QUALIFICATION TIME = 67

It is aimed at practicing electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update of training before going onto other City & Guilds qualifications. This qualification is also suitable for those with limited experience of initial inspection and periodic inspection of electrical installations, such as those entering the industry from other engineering disciplines or who have been working in allied trades.

Course description

The qualification combines all the competencies taught and assessed within both the City & Guilds 2391-50 Level 3 Award in Initial Verification and the City & Guilds 2391-51 Level 3 Award in Periodic Inspection in a cost effective manner for those personnel who are required to certificate both new installations and undertake periodic inspection and condition reporting etc.

 

 

Assessment

Candidates must:-

  1. Successfully complete one online evolve multiple choice test 2 hours open book.
  2. Successfully complete one formal written examination 1 hour 20 minutes open book.
  3. Successfully complete one practical assignment 1:1 with an assessor at the centre, (2391-502) on a 1:1 basis with the assessor on either a AM Slot (09.00 - 12.00) or PM (13.00 - 17.00) to be agreed after sucessfull completion of the evolve and written assessments (outside of the teaching days).

Materials Required

All candidates will be provided with  extensive training materials. Candidates are required to bring along a non-programmable scientific calculator and standard stationary. The course is designed to verify that candidates are fully familiar with the content and application of Guidance Note 3 published by the IET. All candidates are advised to obtain a copy of the following publication for reference throughout the course.

 

 

 

 

Entry Requirements

City & Guilds does not set entry requirements for this combined qualification. However we have a obligation to ensure all candidates have the potential and opportunity to gain the qualification successfully. We require ALL candidates to have gained a City & Guilds 2382-22 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Qualification first and have a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical science and principles of electrical installation work either within the electrical contracting industry or an allied trade and be conversant with practical inspection and testing procedures gained through experience.
Candidates without sufficient practical hands on experience are encouraged to either gain this prior to enrollment and/or consider our City & Guilds 2392-10 Level 2 Course  first!
